My Blog = My Life: beer

  • EVENT: Get into the Game at Beer Bros

Beer Bros' bustling brewpub hosts a five-course wild game dinner on May 18. Wildlife writer/photographer Duane Radford will join diners as research for an article on the joys of pairing food with beer... a tough job but somebody has to do it.

Tickets are $55 plus taxes and tip. Dinner gets underway at 7 p.m.

Kudos to Beer Bros for yet another unique concept.

  • EVENT: St. Patrick's Day

    EVENT: St. Patrick's Day

Need I really point out to you that today is St. Patrick's Day?

And what do you do on St. Patrick's Day? Well, you drink beer. Green beer, if you can stomach it.

CBC News just aired a story at 6:45 a.m. on the celebrations taking place in Halifax. By the looks of it, some of their pubs are already packed with people. I realize that Halifax is a few hours ahead of Regina, but wow. I don't think we get that into things here.

Locally, I'd suggest Beer Bros. downtown for the widest variety of beer and some good eats. Otherwise, McNally's on Dewdney Avenue or O'Hanlon's on Scarth Street downtown are both safe bets. But get there early! It will be a first-come, first-serve kind of night.

  • CORRECTION: Robbie Burns Take II

Last week I posted news that Beer Brothers was shipping in a keg of Paddock Wood Scotch Ale from Saskatoon in honour of Robbie Burns Day.

It turns out that last week's massive snowfall across the province threw a wrench into those plans -- fear not, the keg is now safely in Regina and will be on tap in a day or two.

On the other hand, how long the keg will last is anyone's guess.

    Remember: you snooze, you lose.

  • EVENT: Festive-Ale Beer Festival

Winter getting you down? Beer belly not quite round enough?

Lift your spirits and up the ante next weekend at the 5th annual Festive-Ale on February 5 and 6. Hosted by the Conexus Arts Centre, the event offers more beer than you could possibly drink, along with a smattering of wine and spirits.
